Green Powered (www.greenenergyconsumers.org/greenpowered) is a program of the Green Energy Consumers Alliance (www.greenenergyconsumers.org), a non-profit organization that has been succeeding in making energy more affordable and environmentally sustainable since 1982. Green Energy serves as a trusted voice for both consumers and the environment on local, state, regional and national energy issues. Their goal is to reduce emissions 80% by 2050 and stop climate change. How does it work? For every kilowatt hour that you use, GECA ensures that a renewable energy generator puts enough power onto the grid to meet your usage. They do this by purchasing renewable energy certificates (RECs) from a renewable energy generator on your behalf. Your contributions for REC purchases, and those of thousands of other GECA members, thereby increase demand for renewable energy on the New England power grid, fund new sources of renewable power, and reduce our need to burn fossil fuels for electricity.

Two Field Farm is built on a healthy spirit of self-reliance, consciousness of sustainability and naturally grown food, relying solely on organically-approved methods (no synthetic pesticides, fungicides, or fertilizers). Johanna Flies (Two Field farmer and founder) started farming in 1998 as a crew member on a family-run farm in Michigan. Working her way up the ranks, through the seasons and across the country, she eventually settled outside of Boston to embark on the building of a small, independently-run vegetable business. Pearl’s certification system enables home buyers to see and understand the value of a home’s high-performing assets when the home is sold. Research from across the U.S. shows that third-party home performance certifications like Pearl’s add an average of 4% to the sale price of high-performing homes, compared to similar homes lacking these assets. Great American Rain Barrel Company

At The Great American Rain Barrel Company we re-purpose our own shipping drums into a complete water collection system right here at our food importing plant in Hyde Park, MA, something that we have been doing for 20 years. Back in the late eighties, two local school teachers came up with the idea of recycling barrels into a water collection system modeled after those they had seen in English Gardens. At that time my husband, George, and I were new owners of a food importing/packing company in Boston. When the two teachers came to us looking for the perfect barrel, they knew they were at the right place. The barrel they selected was a large 60 gallon drum that brought olives from Spain. The olives were shipped and sometimes even cured in the barrels, spending anywhere from 6 months to two years in the barrel. Given the natural synergy with our import business and the environmental implications the Great American Rain Barrel Company was formed. Now, almost 30 years later, with the support and enthusiasm of a remarkable customer base, we continue to thrive and sell The Great American Rain Barrel to communities and individuals nationwide.

The Neighborhood Farm is a small, all natural, vegetable and flower farm in Wayland, MA. We grow a wide range of vegetables, herbs and flowers but we specialize in heirloom tomatoes and garlic.
