Once I decided to go with home solar installation, I started by self-learning with MassCEC website, then I asked for quotes both directly and via EnergySage. Now, the more quotes I had to compare on a "cost-per-watt" basis, the more overwhelmed I was by the choice of options and the various languages around warranty.

Thanks to solar coaching offered by Energize Wayland and Plugin Metrowest, I could get past my analysis/paralysis stage on how to decide between the quotes.

Like any other home improvement project where you're looking to hire a contractor, once you have narrowed down your budget and your design, you just want to gather 3 to 5 similar quotes to compare installers. Then your final choice comes down to a judgment call on the company size you feel most comfortable with and the fit/trust you could sense with the installer.

The overall installation then approval process took 4.5 months, and I am a happy solar energy producer since mid-September 2024!
